Physiological Analysis Technologies

Discovering Novel Biology We employ an integrated platform of advanced analytical technologies to systematically discover the physiological and behavioral consequences that result from the loss or inactivation of a specific gene. Our analysis includes many of the most sophisticated diagnostic technologies that might be found in a major medical center, including CAT-scans, MRIs, and other technologies, each of which have been specifically adapted for the in-depth analysis of mouse physiology.
Large-scale Phenotypic Analysis - Our Competitive Advantage At present, we have knocked out and studied nearly 5,000 unique lines of mice. This vast amount of phenotypic data is captured in our custom bioinformatics system, LexVision, which provides a phenotypic report for each gene knockout, performs statistical analysis of results as compared to littermate and thousands of control lines, and allows sophisticated queries of important parameters. We believe that the scope of our gene knockout technology, combined with the size and sophistication of our facilities and our evaluative technologies, provides us with a significant competitive advantage.
State-of-the-art Facilities We conduct these activities, along with the generation of knockout mice, in two state-of-the-art animal facilities occupying approximately 100,000 square feet. These facilities, completed in 1999 and 2002, were custom designed for the generation and analysis of knockout mice and are accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
